Sacred Space at St. Thomas

A Blessing, especially for St. Patrick’s Day:

Today, enjoy this poem and blessing from the late poet and priest John O’Donohue. The blessing follows in words, images, and if you follow the link, read in his own voice. As you listen and read and reflect: may each of us find the light and the blessing, even as you walk through the shadow spaces of memory in your own life:

Beannacht

On the day when
The weight deadens
On your shoulders
And you stumble,
May the clay dance
To balance you.

And when your eyes
Freeze behind
The grey window
And the ghost of loss
Gets into you,
May a flock of colours,
Indigo, red, green
And azure blue,
Come to awaken in you
A meadow of delight.

When the canvas frays
In the currach of thought
And a stain of ocean
Blackens beneath you,
May there come across the waters
